and Capital XTRA
CapitalWe’re chuffed to partner with Capital and Capital XTRA. They have the best tunes, and we bring the spectacular dance moves. What we both share is an active interest in giving back to the community. 2020 has been quite the experience (teeny tiny understatement), but it’s also shown us how strong we are when we’re together. As we move into 2021, we’d like to sustain this spirit through supporting various causes. We think giving back is the way forward. And whether that’s through offering a donation or simply sharing your support on social media, no act of kindness - big or small - is ever wasted.

E-waste, Isolation, Digital inclusion
We’ve already started on our journey to reduce E-Waste by encouraging you to do something with the phones you no longer use. If your phone can be refurbished, you can sell it to us and we’ll get it fixed up to be reused. You can also gift the value of your phone to a charitable cause. And if your phone can’t be refurbished, you can still recycle it. These options are nice for your wallet and even nicer for our planet.
Alongside E-waste, there are other causes close to our heart. Throughout the year, we’ll be spotlighting community projects that meaningfully respond to these aims.

E-waste
There’s over 55 million unused phones sat in drawers around the UK. Think about all that untapped potential. The opportunity to reduce E-waste can start right now at home.

Isolation
There are people in life who become isolated or cut off, through no fault of their own. We’re here to help address this by working with our members and the Capital and Capital XTRA audience to bring folks together to form impactful connections.

Digital inclusion
There is a digital divide that has been amplified by covid and we think that there’s a better way. We want to make sure everyone has the same opportunities. And access to technology feels more important now than ever. With your help, we’d like to get as many people as we can up to speed.

£500 for your chosen cause and £500 for you
We’re encouraging you to nominate a charity or a local cause that is special to you. Maybe it’s a project that has helped boost morale this year by bringing a community together. Or a charity that has repurposed unwanted phones and donated it to vulnerable people in need.
If your nomination is chosen, they’ll get £500, and so will you. It’s our way of saying ‘thank you for all you do’ and ‘keep on going’.
Head on over to our pals at Capital FM to nominate a cause you care about. For more regular updates, including how to get involved, make sure you’re following our community thread.
