Check your drawers

You might have seen us and our pals at LADbible waving a pair of pants around recently. Don’t be alarmed, all shall be explained.

Starting this Black Friday, we’re inviting you all to ‘Check Your Drawers’. (Not your actual pants. Very flattered but no thank you). We’re interested in drawers that could contain old phones, broken phones, phones you don’t use or phones you didn’t even know you still had.

How many phones have we all collected, that are now gathering dust? Ever curious, we did some research with LADbible and found there’s over 55 millions phones sat in our drawers in the UK. Isn’t that bonkers?

It’s often about the ‘next’ and the ‘new’, which can be lots of fun. But what if we stopped to consider the impact these phones were having on the environment? On our planet? So we’re using this Black Friday to start celebrating the untapped potential in the phones you no longer use. Let’s work towards a circular economy that will reduce waste.

Now, here’s the plan. Once you’ve found your old phone, we’re encouraging you to do one of three things:

1. Refurbish it
2. Recycle it
3. Gift For Good

Refurbish it

See if you can trade in your phone with us. Before it goes to a new home, we’ll give it a nice tidy. And we’ll give you some cash in return. Win-win. Just visit our Sell My Phone page here.

Recycle it

If your phone’s a bit too old or damaged to be refurbished, we’ll help you find your nearest recycling point via our mates at Recycle Your Electricals. While recycling your phone won’t get you any cash, you’ll be helping create something brand new. It’s doing a lot of good for our environment, so you should feel pretty chuffed with yourself afterwards.
Note: Please follow the Government’s Covid guidelines. You can get your phone ready to go, but please don’t make a trip to your recycling point until it’s safe to do so.

Gift for good

If your phone can be refurbished, we’ll give you the option to donate the value of it to charity. You can choose whether to make a donation of 10%, 25%, 50%, or 100%. This money will then go to the Neighbourly Foundation to fund grassroot causes that support local communities.

It's as simple as that. So folks, let’s not waste this Black Friday. Have a good ol’ rummage and see what old phones you find in your drawers. Your rubbish might just become somebody else’s reward. Out with the old, now let’s do something new.
