The eSIM has officially landed at giffgaff. That’s right, as a giffgaff member, you’ll no longer need a physical SIM card to connect to our network. Instead, you’ll be able to download a giffgaff eSIM directly to any compatible handset.

How to install an eSIM as a giffgaff newbie
New to giffgaff? Welcome aboard!
We’re excited you’ve chosen giffgaff for your eSIM. Whether you’ve nabbed yourself an iPhone 15, or simply feel like ditching the SIM card, follow these steps to install your eSIM and get set up with giffgaff.
Step 1: Check if your phone works with eSIM
First thing’s first, you need to find out whether your phone works with eSIM. A quick Google should do the trick.
Step 2: Download the giffgaff app
Then, download the giffgaff app and register for an account or log in.
Step 3: Confirm the switch
On the app dashboard, toggle to the eSIM option then go to ‘Choose your plan’. After you’ve chosen and purchased a plan, you’ll be able to get an eSIM on giffgaff.

How to install an eSIM as a giffgaff member
If you’ve already got a traditional giffgaff SIM card, but are switching to eSIM, follow this simple step-by-step guide to get set up.
Step 1: Download the giffgaff app
The easiest way to install an eSIM is to download the giffgaff app, so we can easily guide you through the process.
Step 2: Confirm the switch
To make the switch to eSIM, head over to Account, then choose: SIM > Replace my SIM > Switch to new eSIM



Once you’ve selected Switch to new eSIM, your phone will take you through the install steps. Don’t worry, you’ll be guided every step of the way.
Step 3: Install your giffgaff eSIM
Switching over to eSIM usually completes in less than an hour but can take up to 24 hours at busy times.
Make sure that your phone is charged and that you’re connected to WiFi. If you lose connection, or if your phone dies, simply go back into the giffgaff app to pick up from where you left off.
And that’s it! You’ve installed an eSIM. If your old SIM card is still in your phone, you can take it out now. It won’t work anymore. Or if your old SIM was an eSIM, you can delete it from your phone’s settings. Just make sure not to delete the new eSIM by accident.
