Best photo editing apps
3 minute read

Sometimes when you take photos, the result isn’t quite as good as the real thing. Maybe the sky isn’t quite the same colour as real life, or the photo is a little blurry.
As a member of the giffgaff community and a professional photographer, I’ve listed some apps that will elevate your photos to professional quality with nothing more than the tap of a few buttons.
Photo-ready? Let’s jump right in.
Snapseed
If you’re looking for a professional-grade photo editing app, Snapseed is the way to go.
Snapseed is a non-destructive editing app, unlike most photo editing apps. This means that whatever changes you make to the image are completely individually reversible, and none of the original image data is lost in case you change your mind.
Snapseed offers a step-by-step editing process where you can edit your photos in a variety of different ways. Plus, if you don’t like an edit you’ve made, you can undo that step individually without undoing all your progress.

Canva
Canva is a much more filter-based photo editing app. You can choose from a selection of filters provided by the app to add effects to your photos. Switch up the lighting in your selfies or change the colour tone of your landscape shots.

Canva also lets you change the blur on your photos. If you want to clear up an image that’s just a little out of focus or make those harsh lines softer, you can use the blur slider to create the perfect image.

Lightroom
Lightroom is often the first step for most photo editors, and it’s great for organising multiple photos at once. Lightroom is perfect if you’ve got a large batch of photos to edit, whether it’s photographs from an event or multiple landscape shots.
You can colour-correct your photos in bulk or change the exposure and contrast on all your photos simultaneously before you start to do more specific edits on them individually.
Price: £9.98/month
Photoshop Express
If you’re looking to do more intensive edits to your photos, Photoshop Express is probably the way to go.
Photoshop Express gives you a lot more freedom with what you do to your photos. You can switch up the colours of your image and even remove the background or subject of your pictures.

Plus, you can watch playbacks of other users' edits and use their techniques in your own work. Pick from hundreds of themes and effects to really make your photos something unique.
