It's simple - if you do something for us we'll say thanks and give you some points back. There's no limit to the number of points you can get and a few ways to earn them:

• Send SIMs to your friends and get 500 points for each one that's activated
• Send your friends an email about giffgaff for 50 points
• If a friend puts your member name as recommender when ordering a SIM you'll get 200 points
• You'll also earn points by helping other giffgaffers out in our forum

Our Payback currency are pennies. So 1 point = 1p.

We'll be collecting all the points you earn and send you monthly statements by email. Twice a year (First days of June and December), you'll get to choose what to do with the points you've earned until that date:

• Get it back as cash via PayPal
• Get it as airtime credit for your phone
• Donate it to Cancer Research UK. The charity chosen by our members

To be eligible for Payback you must have an active giffgaff SIM, have topped up 3 months before May 31, have a positive Payback points balance, not be in breach of any of our standard Terms and Conditions.

The next payback date will be happening the first week of December. These are all the key dates:

• November 30 - Current Payback period ends. We'll collect all the points you've earned from June 1 until midnight on November 30.
• December 1 - December 2 - giffgaff tallies your points. Any points earning activity by you or your friends that happens after midnight on November 30 will be captured and paid put at the end of May 2011.
• December 3 - Final points statement & choosing section opens. You'll receive the final points statement around December 3 and you'll be able to make your decision on what to do with your points.
• December 3 - December 14 - Make your choice online. During this period you'll have to go to My giffgaff click on the new My Payback page (that will go LIVE from around June 3) and choose how you want to receive your Payback (as cash, as airtime or donate them to charity). Once you make this choice you can't change it - so chose carefully.
• December 15 - Payment is made. We will process your payments on December 15 and will take a different amount of time depending on the option you choose.

• If you decide to get your payback points as cash you will have to give us an email linked to your PayPal account. If you don't have any, just put your current email address and Paypal will send you an email on how to create a PayPal account.
• If your choice is to donate your payback to Cancer Research UK, not only will we make sure that 100% of the cash you've earned goes to the charity. In addition, the total amount raised by all our members to be donated to charity will be matched by giffgaff.
• If your decision is to get your payback points as airtime, your account will be increased by the value of the points you've earned. This will also count as top-up.

• When do I need to make my choice by?

  You'll need to make a choice from 3 December to the December 14. You can continue earning points anytime, but only the ones that are collected before midnight November 30 will be paid in June's payback.

• I won't be here or won't have Internet access when the choosing section is open, how can I make my choice?

  In the unlikely event that you won't be able to access the Internet between December 3 and December 14 please contact the agent team here.

• Why can't you pay the cash direct to my bank account?

  Setting up relationships with all the UK's banks is too expensive and too time consuming for a low cost business like giffgaff.

• Why can't I split my payment across the 3 sections?

  Offering this would create too much complexity for our small team to implement. If you want to divide your payment please take it as cash and then use the cash as you see fit.

• What happens if I don't choose or forget to choose?

  If you haven't made a choice by midnight December 14, we will default your payment to an airtime credit equal to the value of your points.

• How will I know how many points I have?

  We will send you a points statement on or around June 3. You will also be able to see your points within a new section of the site on around the same date.

• Who do I contact if I have a question about my point statement?

  If you have questions about your individual statement ask a question to one of our agents here. If it's a general querry about Payback feel free to pop it up on the forum.

• Can I save my points for the next Payback period rather than redeeming them now?

  No. Points earned in Payback period must be redeemed at the end of that period. If you don't make a choice we will default your Payback to airtime credit.

• If I haven't topped-up within 3 months of November 30, will I lose my points?

  Yes. The only exception is for our V.I.g's who don't need to top-up as they get free UK calls and texts.
